Can somebody kindly provide citations for the treatment of orographic drag in CAM4? I know it's kinda ancient. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Wade,

CAM4 did not have a representation of Turbulent Orographic Form Drag. In CAM5 the turbulent mountain stress was introduced and in CAM6 it is now represented by the more sophisticated Beljaars scheme. I think CAM4 did have a representation of orographic gravity waves, following McFarlane (1987), JAS, 44, 1775-1800.
