Output the adiabatic vertical temperature advection tendency

Hi all,

I am trying to find the adiabatic horizontal and vertical temperature advection tendency in the source code and to output them. Can anyone tell me the corresponding variables for them?

Thanks!

Hi Li1108,

Do you know what CAM grid or dynamical core you are using for your simulations? That will determine if what you are asking for is reasonably doable or not.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Hi Jesse,

I have did some research and find that the dynamical core I use is finite volume and this core cannot output the horizontal temperature tendency. However, I think I can use the meridional heat transport (VT), vertical heat transport (OMEGAT), and DTCORE to calculate the gradient of heat transport. That also works for me. By the way, I also want to ask the total physics tendency (PTTEND). In CAM4, does it equal to the sum of DTCOND (condensation), QRS, QRL, DTV and TTGWORO?

Best,
Li
