Outputs of land variables from coupled CAM

Running CAM, is it possible to report output variables from the coupled land model (e.g. soil temperature and mositure profiles) in net CDF format as well as producing the net CDF results for atmospheric variables? If so, how do you do it? Looking through the code, I would expect the model to produce a land model history file for the defined land outputs but I can't work out how make it work. Can it be made to work for the single column version CAM also?
