Outputting new variables to a cam.i file

Good afternoon,

I am attempting to figure out a way to output new variables to a cam.i file so that we can initialize a carbon-cycle simulation for the eocene. I've done some research on it, but can't seem to find a way to change what is written out to the cam.i file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
