Possibility to restart a run with a different timestep?

Dear CESM forum help center,
I was trying to use a different timestep to do a branch run from a previous existing run.
The model complained about timestep is inconsistent and failed to run.
I am wondering if that is possbile in CESM to continue a run with a different timestep or it is not allowed?

My simulation aborted after several years of run. That would be nice if we can continue from where it stops with a different timestep.

Thanks a lot.

I think that you need to do a hybrid and not a branch if you want to change the timestep.
