Pre_industrial run

Hi all;
I want to run B1850 comp with resolution f09_g17.
My question is, what period of time is meant by pre_industrial in the model? I looked in the env_run.xml file. It started from 01-01-0001 and STOP_OPTION = "ndays" and STOP_N = "5". I want to run the pre_industrial duration on a monthly basis.
Thank you for your guidance.

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question... but if you want to run a one month simulation you can run

Code:
$ ./xmlchange STOP_N=1,STOP_OPTION=nmonths

from your case directory. You can run much longer than that - the B1850 compset forcing datasets are based on climatological averages and the model will just repeat the forcing over longer runs.

"Pre-industrial" means all the forcings (greenhouse gases, ozone, aerosols, etc.) are fixed at their 1850 values.

Thank you for devoting your time to answering my questions and helping me.

I searched the pre_industrial period. In most cases, this period is from 1750 to 1850. I want to ask, does the model with B1850 compset run the same period (1850-1750)? Or does it only run the year 1850?
How are pre-industrial period and industrialization period defined in compsets?
Is it possible to run from 1850 to 2015 with this compset?
What is the difference between B1850 and BHIST?
In a new project, I have to investigate the climate over a region in 3 phases:
First, the pre-industrial period, then historically from 1850 to 2021 and finally with RCP scenarios from 2015 to 2100.

I would be very grateful if you could guide me in this regard.

Thanks.

A pre-industrial run doesn't mean a specific time period, like 1750 to 1850. As I said, it means that the forcings the model receives are fixed at their 1850 values.

How are pre-industrial period and industrialization period defined in compsets?

They aren't, at least not in the sense you're thinking.

Is it possible to run from 1850 to 2015 with this compset?
What is the difference between B1850 and BHIST?

A BHIST compset is needed to simulate the 1850 to 2015 period, not a B1850 compset.

In a new project, I have to investigate the climate over a region in 3 phases:
First, the pre-industrial period, then historically from 1850 to 2021 and finally with RCP scenarios from 2015 to 2100.

CESM provides output from the kinds of simulations you're interested in

The set I noted earlier has a 500 year pre-industrial control as well as 10 sets of historical and RCP8.5 simulations.
