Problem in downloading input data when submit the case(error: 'UNSET/atm_forcing.datm7..')

I am trying to run the CLM after I chosed the compset ‘I1850Clm50Sp’, but when I submit the case , there is the following problem, which seems that it’s not able to find the data of atm-forcing in datm7 and it shows the ‘UNSET...’, however, the inputdata actually has been downloaded in the corresponding path. Afterward, according to the error, I modified the directory to the corresponding path in the file of ‘datm_input_data_list’, but once I submit the case, the path go back to the ‘UNSET...‘ again, and the error occurred.

Any suggestions to diagnose the problem will be really helpful.

Thank you.

Mike

I'm not sure how the inputdata download works on other machines, so I'm going to move this to the Infrastructure forum, where there are some similiar posts.

It seems that what is unset is the path to the intputdata directory: DIN_LOC_ROOT_CLMFORC
which should be defined in your config_machines.xml file - in most cases you can set it to DIN_LOC_ROOT

Thank you very much, it worked by your suggestion. But now, I met another problem while I submit the case:
ERROR: RUN FAIL: Command 'mpirun /data/home/tfyuan/my_cesm_sandbox/output/i.e212.I1850Clm50Sp.f19_g17/bld/cesm.exe >> cesm.log.$LID 2>&1 ' failed

Could you tell me how to solve this problem, please.
Thank you

The error report is instructing you to look at the cesm log for details on why the run failed: /data/home/tfyuan/my_cesm_sandbox/output/i.e212.I1850Clm50Sp.f19_g17/run/cesm.log.12487.201119-194009
Please look at that log file and see if there is any information about why the run failed and then resolve the problem indicated.
If you can't resolve the problem, please attached the log file so that we can take a look at it.
Also, has the model been properly ported to your machine?

There appears to be an error in the openmpi layer establishing communications on the network.
Please consult your system administrators and try experimenting with a simple mpi program such as hello world.

Thanks for your replying. The openmpi layer seems normal, I have no idea why there is the error in the log file "ERROR: (shr_stream_verifyTCoord) ERROR: calendar dates must be increasing". Could you tell me the reason, please

That error means there is something wrong with the time coordinate on one of your streams files, most likely one of the atm forcing files. Since you previously had problems associated with the forcing data you might try downloading the data again in case it was corrupted during that process. Could you also attach the atm log file, the datm_in file, and the streams files (datm.streams.txt.CLMGSWP3v1.Precip, datm.streams.txt.CLMGSWP3v1.Solar, datm.streams.txt.CLMGSWP3v1.TPQW)? There may be information in there that tells you which file has the problem.

I am grateful for your reply. These files you mentioned are attached below, in addition, the updated cesm log file also is attache because of the model running again.
Thank you

ncdump is a utility that will "dump" information on the netcdf file.

For example,

ncdump -h /data2/home/tfyuan/inputdata/atm/datm7/atm_forcing.datm7.GSWP3.0.5d.v1.c170516/Solar/clmforc.GSWP3.c2011.0.5x0.5.Solr.1901-01.nc

will dump the header information of the file.

ncdump -v time /data2/home/tfyuan/inputdata/atm/datm7/atm_forcing.datm7.GSWP3.0.5d.v1.c170516/Solar/clmforc.GSWP3.c2011.0.5x0.5.Solr.1901-01.nc

will dump the header information plus the values of the time variable within the netcdf file.

We want to see what the values of the time variable are in the netcdf file.

It's appreciation for your help and patience.
The corresponding file of time variable are attached below, thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with those files based on the information you've provided. I don't understand where the odd dates (19170516 18490101) are coming from. I can't replicate the problem here.
Have you successfully run any other case on your machine? Have you made any changes to the model or data, or is this out of the box?

Thanks for your reply.
I have not run any case successfully because so far I just tried it merely. I haven't made any changes to the model or data, I think it's not out of the box, yet.
Thank you

Could you post the datm.streams.txt.presaero.clim_1850 file, I don't see that in what you've already posted.
