QFLX definition

Hello to all,I'd like to know the precise definition of the QFLX variable as used in the met forcing files. Is it a combination of large-scale, convective and snowfall precipitations, evaporation? Also, regarding the sign of QFLX, I noticed on some MERRA met files that it appeared to be always strictly positive. Is this a fact? Thanks,Thibaut.

To come back to my question, I'm trying to generate forcing met files starting from some ECMWF data. All variables needed in the CESM-format met file find their equivalent in the ECMWF dataset, except for QFLX, for which I cannot find any clear relation. Hence my question about its definition. Would someone have a clue about how to build the QFLX variable? Thanks again,Thibaut.

Hi Thibaut, the QFLUX variable is taken from the reanalysis variable called "EVAP", that is all, nothing else, Simone
