QIRRG_FROM_SURFACE Discrepancy in CLM5 Simulations with 'use_lai_streams' Setting in SP compset

When I run CLM5 simulations with my atmospheric data in Satellite phenology mode, setting 'use_lai_streams = .true.' results in QIRRG_FROM_SURFACE being 0. However, when I set 'use_lai_streams = .false.', QIRRG_FROM_SURFACE is not 0. Can someone help me understand why this happens? I ran the simulations only for 20days in the year 2000 in both simulations.

I expect it is because LAI for pft 16 (irrigated crop) is zero everywhere in the LAI streams file. LAI is assigned to pft 15 (rainfed crop).

Thank you, Oleson! Yes, the LAI for pft 16 (irrigated crop) is zero, however I have a doubt when we kept use_lai_streams =.false. the model uses the average LAI from 2003 to 2015 (Jan to Dec) and repeats every year, therefore won't the 16 pft (irrigated crop with LAI 0) affect the irrigation here? Can I perform the CLM5SP simulations with use_lai_streams =.false. and irrigate =.true. to see the irrigation influence on soil moisture?
