query about source code changes

Hi everyone,I have a general question. If Im willing to make some souce code changes in a particular case in SourceMode directory for any component, ho can I verify that the change is successfully implemented after building/compiling the case.For example,I am running clm4.5 with cam5. I changed the zlnd variable to 0.02 from its original value of 0.01 in SourceMod/src.clm. My job has completed. I checked the log files but could not find any zlnd variable.  please let me know Thanks in advance
