Question about ideal_phys run

Dear all,

The CAM2 present the selection of ideal_phys and that of adiabatic. The water are all excluded in these two run. It seems that there are'nt the interaction between surface and atmosphere. I didn't know how deal with it.
If the interaction between surface and atmosphere isn't be considered then CAM2 how to deal with the lower boundary. Because if surface didn't present heat flux to atmosphere in these two run, the lower boundary of the atmosphere can not gain energy from outside. If it is true then the atmosphere is the adiabatic dissipation system.

I run the adiabatic test, I gain a wrong result that the direction of the circulation in the troposphere is reverse. The ascend branch lie over polar region and the descend branch lie over the equator. I don't know why?
I check the result then I find the surface temperature is zero everywhere. Whether this is the reason or not? Whether the same situation can be appear
in ideal_phys test or not? How deal with this problem?

Any suggestion will be helpful for me.

Thanks in advance!

"Ideal_phys" is a modified adiabatic run configured to include an arbitrary
diabatic state. It was developed to help evaluate dynamical cores. It is not
intended to simulate "real" climate but rather evaluate dynamical cores apart
from the parameterization suites of individual models. It sounds like you are
looking to run some sort of ideal option that does not exist in the model.
You may have to modify code to come up with the specifications you want.
