Question about MOM6 versions

In Alper's tutorial over two years ago (https://www.cesm.ucar.edu/events/2020/MOM6/files/2020-MOM6-Altuntas.pdf), he gives directions for downloading CESM, then checking out the tag with mom6 in it (cesm2_2_alpha04d_mom6). There doesn't seem to be a newer tag with MOM6, so this will fetch a rather dated copy of all the codes. Is there a plan to generate a newer mom6 tag? Is it OK to just switch to the dev/gfdl version of MOM6? What about the other codes?

I will check with Alper about the most recent tag to be used and report back here.
We have not run any compsets with CICE6 on a C grid yet.

Hi Kate. We don't create MOM6-specific tags any longer because MOM6 is now (an optional) component of incremental CESM releases. Instead, you should check out the latest CESM beta tag, that is cesm2_3_beta09. Most recent MOM6+CESM instructions are at: Detailed Instructions · ESCOMP/MOM_interface Wiki

Also, I'd advise against switching MOM6 tags or branches within a specific CESM version, because you will likely run into incompatibility issues between MOM6, MOM_interface, FMS, and CMEPS versions that come with that specific CESM version.
