Question about prescribed SST/ICE dataset for CAM run

Hello everyone.
I am conducting some experiments by using F2000climo compset. I see there are 2 variables about SST in the prescribed SST/ICE dataset, i.e. SST_cpl and SST_cpl_prediddle. I know the difference between above 2 variables. I wonder whether these 2 variables are both used during simulations, or only SST_cpl is used? Any suggestions are welcome!

The SST_cpl and ice_cov arrays are used by the model. The SST_cpl_prediddle and ice_cov_prediddle arrays are not used, and are present for informational purposes only.
