Question about variables in the off-line meteorology data.

Hello,I am running off-line model. I want to make my own meteorology data using the NCEP/gfs and ERA data. But I don't know some variables exactly in the met data.1. SOILW. Soil moisture fraction. I find the data has soilw0_10cm, soilw10_40cm,soilw40_100cm and soilw100_200cm in the GFS data. Also, the ERA  has volunetric soil water layer 1,2,3,4. How to calculate the SOILW in metdata? 2.QFLX, Surface water flux. why its units is kg/m2/s ,not kg/m2 ? how to get it?3. SNOWH. snow height. Its units is not gave.  what is its relationship with snow depth?(I found the value: GEOS 0-500, ERA 0-10, gfs 0-1) Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much.Jeff
