Questions on the fertilization dataset for future simulation (2050)

Hi,

I want to ask a question on how the CTSM crop model determines the future fertilization (2050) if we conduct an anomaly forcing simulation. To my understanding, CLM uses a fixed N fertilization rate for crops in different countries, so the land use surface dataset might be the critical element regulating the total fertilization in the future. So, another question is, do we have different SSP scenarios for the future land surface dataset?

thank you

I would have assumed there's a time-varying fertilization input, but I've never looked into. Peter Lawrence would be the better person to ask.

There is a "FERTNITRO_CFT" variable on the landuse timeseries file associated with each SSP.

If you set up an ISSP simulation you'll get a landuse timeseries file in your lnd_in. E.g., using ctsm5.4.004 with compset ISSP370Clm60BgcCropCrujra and resolution f09_t232:

/glade/campaign/cesm/cesmdata/inputdata/lnd/clm2/surfdata_esmf/ctsm5.3.0/landuse.timeseries_0.9x1.25_SSP3-7.0_1850-2100_78pfts_c240908.nc
