Radiation effects of dust aerosol

Hi!

I am currently using the FHIST compset of CESM2.1.3 for simulation, with a planned simulation period from 2000 to 2014.

I have set up two sets of tests: (1) one set of tests defaults to turning on dust emission; (2) Another set of tests turned off dust emission by setting the soil_erod_file namelist variable to zero. Can I separate the effects of dust aerosol based on the difference between these two sets of experiments? Including the impact of dust aerosol on radiation, cloud microphysical properties, and precipitation.

Sincerely hope to get your advice.
Best wishes!

I think you could hack the dust emissions off by setting the namelist dust_emis_fact = a huge number like 1E+36, as that parameter is applied to the denominator to the coefficient in front of the unmodified dust emissions.
