Dear all,
I am running cesm1.2.2 with CAM5 physics with prescribed volcanic aerosols. By default, file used for the mass extinction efficiency for RRTMG is rrtmg_Bi_sigma1.8_c100521.nc. I have observed that the mass extinction efficiency for the visible band is about 2468.179 for effective radius of 0.462micrometers, But it is 3679.315 for CAMRT file sulfuricacid_cam3_c080918.nc. Due to this, the optical depth of volcanic aerosol becomes very low for RRTMG configuration.
Kindly tell the assumption behind making of these files and why these numbers are so drastically different? I also see different files like rrtmg_Bi_sigma1.4_c091124.nc. Then why the above mentioned file is made default?
