Request for CICE NetCDF restart file metadata

Many thanks to whoever converted the CICE restart files from plain binaries to NetCDF!
They would be even more useful if they made use of the NetCDF attributes, so that we would know what we're looking at.
long_name, units, and _FillValue (with the correct value defined; see related CICE thread) would be a great start.
Are there any plans for that?
Before the CESM release?

There are no plans to add attributes to the restart files. There are no CF compliance requirements for restarts.
