Hi all,
I have created a 12 month control run using the FC5 compset and saved interim monthly restarts and initial conditions. I would now like to create a branch run, also using the FC5 compset, starting in July but I am not sure which restart files are actually required.
I have copied the restart files for 0001-07-01 for each component as well as the cam.i and history files for cam, clm2 and rtm to the run directory and created rpointer files (see attached) based on what the model generated in the restart directory for 0002-01-01-00000 at the end of my control run:
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cam.rs.0001-07-01-00000.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cam.r.0001-07-01-00000.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cam.i.0001-07-01-00000.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cam.h0.0001-06.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cpl.r.0001-07-01-00000.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.clm2.rh0.0001-07-01-00000.nc
f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.clm2.r.0001-07-01-00000.nc

f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.control.001.cice.r.0001-07-01-00000.nc
However, the model times out at run time:
CESM BUILDNML SCRIPT STARTING
- To prestage restarts, untar a restart.tar file into /g/data/v45/zg0866/CESM/1.2.2/scratch//exe_files/f.e12.FC5.f09_f09.100E_05S.pos5Kday.jul.001/run/

=>> PBS: job killed: walltime 3638 exceeded limit 3600
Do you have any idea what is causing this problem? Are all these files not actually required for a branch run?
I have created a branch run simply with the .r, .rh0 and .rs files and it seemed to worked but I wasn't sure if it would produce an exact restart without these additional files.
Thanks so much in advance,
Zoe
