Running with parallel restart in SIS2

I am running a version of OM_025.JRA. I keep getting the error:
"FATAL from PE 143: MPP_OPEN:INPUT/ice_model.res.nc does not exist."
even though I set PARALLEL_RESTARTFILES = True in SIS_input, and I am providing ice_model.res.nc.0000, ice_model.res.nc.0001 etc. in my input directory.

Does anyone know what I could be missing here? I am running with the newest MOM6-examples tree, so I don't think that is the problem.

This turned out to be that I needed to change IO_LAYOUT to match the shape of the restart files. I didn't know about that before.
