runoff

Hi!

I want to calculate total runoff into the Mediterranean Sea from my clm history files. Can I just sum: Qdrai, Qover and Qrgwl [mm/day] and then do an area average over the Mediterranean basin? I have 3 grid squares in the Mediterranean Sea that have negative values for Qrgwl and they are fairly substantial (more than -1 mm/day).

Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa,

The negatives come from wetlands or lakes where the evaporation exceeds precip...

The three variables that you listed will give you the column level runoff terms simulated by the land model. If you are running with RTM (river transport model) active, then you should be able to also look at river flow at river mouths. The variable names out of RTM are QCHANR and QCHOCNR (or something like that).
