Set up stuck all the time

What steps should I check if the set up has been stuck in this step all the time?

If you are stuck in the cesm_setup stage, I would start over -- run ./cesm_setup -clean and then try ./cesm_setup again. If it hangs in the same place, try removing the case directory and run directory, and re-running create_newcase.

Note that CESM 1.2.2 is no longer supported; given the project you are working on, is moving to CESM 2.1.5 or CESM 2.2.2 feasible?
