sign of TAUX and TAUY in atmos archive

I found TAUX and TAUY from monthly atmos archive from the CESM2 large ensemble. I wonder about their direction. Are TAUX and TAUY representing momentum flux from the atmosphere to the ocean or the other way around? I need to multiply them by -1 to calculate Ekman transport if they are momentum flux from the ocean to the atmosphere. Thank you!
