simulation speed of CESM2.1.5

Hi all,

I am running CESM2.1.5 with F2000climo compset and f09 grid, and the compiler is gnu/openmpi. The speed is 1.62 myears/wday for NTASKS=128, and 2.81 myears/wday for NTASKS=256. Are these normal or not? I feel it is not as quick as I expected. How can I speed up?

Thanks.
Jian

First you can get the intel compiler for free now and it should perform faster than gnu does. You can see our performance numbers for this case in the database CESM Timing, Performance & Load Balancing Data. Performance depends on a number of system factors including the cpu and the network. Your mileage may vary greatly from the published numbers.
