"T" is potential temperature in "VT", isn't it?

 Hello everyone, I want to know how the CESM1.0 calculates the variable "VT" output in the CAM."T" is potential temperature in "VT", isn't it?Is there any person who can find the calculation method in the model codes? Thanks,Jing

No T is actual temperature. It is accumulated every model timestep and used to calculate meridional eddy flux terms e.g., V'T' = [VT]-[V][T]

Thanks very much, Richard.So, the output VT called "meridional heat transport" just includes the internal energy, but no potential energy. Right?When I calculate the total heat transport (VT+VQ+VZ), I can get only VT and VQ from the model output, but no VZ.Do you have any methods to solve this? Best,Jing

There's no reason that VZ cannot also be output the same way as the other terms. Just follow the same methodology of VT,VQ for outputting onto the history file.
