The detailed discription of updates for CAM-WACCM

Hello, I find the brief introduction that  "What's New in CESM1.2.0" in http://www.cesm.ucar.edu/models/cesm1.2/tags/cesm1_2/whatsnew_science.html.I am interseted in  the detailed information, especialy the "CAM-WACCM" and the "Updates for specified dynamics (SD-WACCM and SD-CAMchem, functional)". What is the difference between FSDW in CESM1.2.2 and FSDW in CESM1.0.4.  However, I cannot find the documents.Could someone help me? Jeff

Hi Jeff, for CAMchem we have the first scientifically validated CAMchem release in CESM122. Please see:http://www.cesm.ucar.edu/experiments/cesm1.2/
also you can find a documentation here:http://www.geosci-model-dev.net/8/1395/2015/ Simone

Here is the full list of WACCM updates in CESM1.2 that we submitted for the release notes. The indents got lost on the web page, apparently. The SD-WACCM updates are just extending inputs to include more recent dates, and changing the namelist variable that controls the nudging factor.[*]New WACCM4 CARMA compsets yet to be created
  • Stratospheric black carbon for nuclear winter studies (scientifically validated)
  • Sulfate: specified dynamics compset, heterogeneous chemistry to be added (functional)
[*]WACCM spectral element (SE) dycore support (functional)[*]Updates and bug fixes for specified chemistry (SC-WACCM, functional)
  • ozone file fixed
  • TMS on
  • documentation to be created
[*]Updates for specified dynamics (SD-WACCM and SD-CAMchem, functional)
  • SSI/TSI and Kp files updated for 2012
  • SPE and SAD file updates for 2012 to be created
  • new namelist specification for nudging factor (time scale, rather than percent)
[*]WACCM5 updates and bug fixes (functional)[*]Chemistry updates in waccm_mozart (functional)[*]Remove obsolete waccm_mozart_v1 chemistry package[/list]

Hi Mike,   In SD-WACCM in CESM1.2.2 for the nudging,  'met_max_rlx' is for the percent, and the default value is 0.1. It means 10%, ins't it?   what is parameter for the  time scale? what is the method? Could you give  more detail description?Wishes,Ying—studying
