the meaning of SOIL_COLOR values

Hi,

I want to know the meaning of the values of SOIL_COLOR in surfdata_0.9x1.25_hist_16pfts_Irrig_CMIP6_simyr2000_c190214.nc. I checked model code, but I only found something as the following picture shows. But I want to know the specific name of each soil color, such as chernozems, gypsisols. I searched in clm userguide, but I did not find it.

I am looking forward to your help! Many thanks!

From the CLM5 technical note:

Soil color determines dry and saturated soil albedo (section 2.3.2). Soil colors are from Lawrence and Chase (2007).

There is no specific correspondence between soil color and soil type.

The model doesn't use soil types like "chernozems, gypsisols". Soil thermal and hydraulic properties are specified from soil texture type, e.g., percent sand and clay and organic.
