The new tool to generate domain and surface data set

Hi

I remember at one CLM meeting that someone shared a new tool which is much faster than the existing tools

mkmapgrids to make SCRIP grid file for the specific region
mkmapdata to make SCRIP mapping file for raw datasets
mksurfdata_map to make the surface datasets for the region
1) mksurfdata.pl; 2) ./mksurfdata_map < mksurfdata_map.namelist

in CLM to generate domain and surface datasets. Any idea whether that new tool is available and where to find it or the information of it?

Yes, that is the new tool for creating surface datasets and we'll bring it in tagged as ctsm5.2.0. It isn't on main-dev CTSM yet, but will be soon.

There is a another tool that can be used to give regional datasets from existing global data

tools/site_and_regional/subset_data

it is great to create datasets needed to run for a single tower site, or to subset a global grid for a region of interest.
