Time resolution of 6hr wind data?

I am comparing wind data with Tromso MFR 60-80Km daily at 12UT. WACCM data look noisy..
Are they instantaneous shots of a high time resolution model, or
some sort of time average?

If you do an "ncdump" on the dataset, the attribute cell_methods = "time: mean" will exist for all time-averaged fields.

If it's not present, the field is an instantaneous value.
