topographical parameter in atmospheric initial data

I would like to know in details about the computation of the SGH in initial data(such as cami_0000-09-01_64x128_T42_l26_c020514.nc) of CAM2. If anyone could tell me some information about this problem(such as source code to compute SGH, any document which include the corresponding information or some paper etc.) It will help me a lot.
