Trying to get a CAM run off the ground!

Hey guys, in attempting to run a sample climate simulation with CAM3.1, I've been trying to find the high resolution surface dataset files for download (e.g. /lnd/clm2/rawdata/mksrf_glacier.nc ; /lnd/clm2/rawdata/mksrf_lai.nc)...I've had no luck finding them online yet. One promising link on this page:

http://www.ccsm.ucar.edu/models/atm-cam/download/index.html

is "High resolution land surface datasets" under "CAM 3.1 Files", but when I download the contents, I get a tar file with 0 bytes. Regardless of whether I'm looking in the wrong place or not for the input files specified in my namelist, thought you would want to know of this broken link.

Any help would be appreciated :)

thanks for your note...i just tried to download the gzipped tar file for these datasets and had no problem...not sure where the problem is happening - could you provide more details about your system (browser, etc)...

Thanks for checking into this...I just tried downloading a few other tar files off of this webpage

http://www.ccsm.ucar.edu/models/atm-cam/download/index.html

and succesfully retrieved files with real data that could be unzipped and extracted (tar -xvf). The file cam3.0_landsurf_datasets.tar.gz, however, is still a file of 0 bytes after I download it.

I am running Firefox version 1.5.0.3 on RedHat 4 Update 4, 64-bit. Let me know if you need any other information to track down this peculiar problem.

file permissions appear fine...file size is nothing abnormal...basically, i have no idea why this particular file would be causing problems...and it's been out there for a long time now without any reported issues...

for now i've put the file on our anonymous ftp site for you to grab:

ftp ftp.cgd.ucar.edu
user: anonymous
password: email_address
cd /pub/mvr
get cam3.0_landsurf_datasets.tar.gz

Thanks Mathew, I was able to ftp, unzip and untar the file just fine :) I don't know why I couldn't download it either. I suppose this is one of those times where you just shrug your shoulders and move on.

It forced me to get acquainted with the bulletin board here anyways, so that's good. Thanks again!
