Using fixed snow fraction, thickness, etc. in selected regions?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to run a sensitivity test with CESM 1.2.2, where I'd like to fix the albedo at certain regions, possibly with data from a previous run. From what I understand, if vegetation, and aerosol remains the same, all I have to worry about is the change of snow cover due to temperature. Therefore, my primary goal would be to specify snow-related stuff in the region of interest, which sounds a bit more reasonable (or not?) than specifying the albedo directly, which I don't have a clue how to do either.

I briefly searched the forum and could not find appropriate answers. Is there a way to convenient achieve that?

Thanks,
Wade

I think your best bet would be to overwrite the albedo after all of the calculations are completed. Not quite sure how to do that, but you might find example code from the Simple Land Interface Model (SLIM) which allows one to change fundamental land surface properties (e.g., albedo) in CESM:
