UV shielding by H2O and CO2?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if WACCM accounts for UV absorption by H2O and CO2 when it computes radiative fluxes for photolysis? In modern Earth's scenario, the absorption of UV by H2O and CO2 may be negligible compare to that by O2 and O3, but in low-O2 simulations for early Earth, the UV absorption by H2O and CO2 may be quite important.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Yangcheng

This is not available in current model releases, but it is under development. We are implementing FAST-J for photolysis calculations.
