Variability diagnostics package

Hi.

I was just wondering if the AMWG variability diagnostic package is still supported. I'm able to run most of it successfully on a recent SP-CAM AMIP simulation, but the power spectra plots from the 6-hourly data are not working correctly.

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

I could probably cross the room and speak to you about this!
Anyway the wavenumber-frequency part of the diagnostics is based on "wrapped" fortran code that NCL takes advantage of. This is fortran compiler dependent and the fortran binaries for this need to be re-built for your particular system probably via the WRAPIT scripts. If you have tried to rebuild these binaries on your system and it still doesn't work then let me know. In the future this will change (when I or someone else gets time to do it!) as there are now built-in NCL routines that will do these power spectra calculations much more easily.

Hi Richard.

Yeah, I still can't get the power spectra and other 6-hourly diagnostics to work on our local computers, so if a new version of this package ever comes out or if you know of a way to make the current one work I'd be more than happy to try it out.

Thanks!
Mark Branson
