Hi,

I am trying to show that vertical heat diffusion from the deep ocean to the surface, and would really appreciate any help.

Q. To show the vertical heat diffusion flux = -k * dT/dz (k is diffusion coefficient, m^2/s) by CESM POP output, which of the following variables should be used for k?

1. kappa_ISOP : isopycnal diffusion coefficient
2. kappa_THIC : thickness diffusion coefficient
3. VDC_T : total diabatic vertical temperature diffusivity

Is there a relationship between the above three variables?

Thank you in advance for your help!
