Which is the correct monthly average result

I want to output some monthly soil moisture results, and I understand that the default h0 file contains monthly average results for many variables. I am on user_nl_clm is set in the clm hist_fincl2='H2OSOI: I' and I hope to obtain the monthly average soil moisture results in the h1 file. Finally, after running, I successfully obtained the monthly average results of soil moisture in the h0 and h1 files. But what confuses me is that even though I see similar spatial distributions on Panoply, for the same month, they have different values on each grid. So I want to know which one is more correct, the default h0 file or the h1 file I set for output myself.

You've specified "I", which is instantaneous. If you want the average, then specify "A", or don't specify anything as average is the default.
