Which model compset is qppropriate for doing a 1970 time slice run? and where to get the initial condition files?

Hi all,I am thinking about running a 1970 time slices simulation with resolution configuration of f09_g16, using B_2000_CAM5_CN, although I feel B_1850_CAM5_CN might be more appropriate?  BTW-I am confused why the B_2000* composets startup run start from year 01-01-01 by default? how am I supposed to understand year-2000 while it starts from cold status?Can anyone direct me to appropriate initial condition/restart files most close to 1970 for either B_1850_CAM5_CN (f09_g16) or B_2000_CAM5_CN (f09_g16), IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED DEEPLY.Cheers, Alcide

Just to update this incase anyone need the informaiton.For doing a 1970 time clice simulation, B_1850-2000_CAM5_CN would be the one to choose, I have 1970-0101 rstart (f09_g16) at 2011 and can provide it to anyone if you need.For doing a 2010 time clice simulation, B_RCP8.5_CAM5_CN would be one of the right choices. And I now have the restats from LENS experiments at 2011. Note B_2000* composets are CONTROL run configutrations, which  means everything is in 2010 condition, That is why by default the model start from cold status.Cheers, Alcide

Hello,

I encountered the similar problem as you had before. I would like to set up a fully coupled simulation running from 1980 to 2016, with constant greenhouse gas emission. Therefore, I chose B_2000_CAM5_CN compset to run this simulation. Do I need to initialize this simulation from LENS year 1980 restart files? And what do you mean that everything is in 2010 condition for B_2000* compsets? Thanks so much!
