What version of the code are you using?
I am using the fully coupled version of CESM 2.1.5 with the B1850_f19_g17 setup

Have you made any changes to files in the source tree?

I made no changes

Describe every step you took leading up to the problem:
there is no problem with the code, I just have a question on how to modify the input data.

Describe your problem or question:
Hi all, I am a new user and would like to set up a run without any vegetation-only bare soil. In the default setting for CAM I found the
atm/cam/chem/trop_mozart/dvel/depvel_monthly.nc file, which stores predefined dry deposition velocities for 16 species.
I assume that the dry deposition velocities change when the vegetation is completely removed and that I have to replace the existing file with newly calculated values?
I would very much appreciate any suggestions how this calculation can be meaningfully done!
Thank you very much for your help, Irina

Dry deposition is calculated in CLM and uses the landcover type determined in CLM. The depvel_monthly.nc file is not currently used - it was an option in old versions of CAM-chem. See: Dry Deposition - CAM-Chem - wiki.ucar.edu
If you change the landcover in CLM you should not have to make any further changes for the dry deposition.
Be sure to output the deposition velocities (DV_*) to verify the model is behaving as you wish.
