I recently used CESM2.2.0 to simulate global near-surface gaseous sulfuric-acid concentrations. The results look wrong: over East and South Asia the modeled near-surface gaseous H₂SO₄ mixing ratios are extremely low. I made no other modifications—just ran the standard workflow.
Hi everyone
Recently, I need to use MOSAIC scheme in CESM to finish my final project of one course. I have used CESM2.2.2 but I have never used chemsitry related models so I have many questions:
1. I do not know if I couple this scheme correctly.
At the beginning, I follow Use MOSAIC scheme...

May I get information on the default CO2 forcing data that is used in CTSM? The directory for the data is: /glade/p/cesmdata/cseg/inputdata/atm/datm7/CO2/fco2_datm_global_simyr_1750-2014_CMIP6_c180929.nc...
Hi all,
I went though some of the forum threads and saw that you can use daily emissions datasets with CAM. I looked at some of the extended inventories as mentioned here Emission Inventories - CAM-Chem - wiki.ucar.edu, and while for biomass burning they're present, there seems to be no such...
Hello everyone,
I am using CESM1.2 with the CAM4 component for a paleoclimate simulation with an ancient topography. I have set up globally uniform aerosol forcing by modifying the input files for prescribed aerosols (prescribed_aero_file) and aerosol deposition fluxes (aerodep_flx_file) to be...
Dear Community,
I run a CESM2.2.0 case with FCSD compset during 1980-2022. The resolution is 0.9°*1.25° with 56 vertical levels. The meteorological field is nudged to MERRA2 and CMIP6 historical emissions are used. I want to analyse the contribution of STT (Stratosphere-to-Troposphere...
Dear Community,
I am interested in comparing the differences in BVOC species (e.g., ISOP) contributions to SOA formation rates between two sets of atmospheric-only simulations—one with higher O₃ concentrations and one with lower O₃ concentrations.
Could you please advise which variable would...

I am running simulation with CESM2.1.4. The model uses MAM4 to calculate aerosol number concentration and mass concentration.
What I want to do:
Simulation 1: output the emission flux of dust (both number and mass flux)
Simulation 2: read in the (daily) output of dust number and mass flux from...
Hi everyone, I am trying to model HFCs using CESM2.1.5. Wondering if there are any compsets that contain HFCs or HFC-134a-equivalent in its lower boundary condition files? I have found CFC11eq in other compsets (such as FW1850) but no HFCs. I would really appreciate any help on this!
Hi,
I am using the cesm3_beta06 version code, and want to know if there is any compset that satisfies the requirements of turning on the CAM-Chem and BGC with nudged wind? By looking at the compset website ( CESM2.2.2 Component Sets Definitions ), I only find that the FCfireHIST has the...

Hello everyone,
I'm using cesm version 2.1.3, create_newcase --res f19_g16 --compset FHIST, I tried to add some new chemistries in chem_mech.in to simulate,
CAM_CONFIG_OPTS: -phys cam6 -chem trop_strat_mam4_vbs; CAM_NML_USE_CASE:2010_trop_strat_vbs_cam6,
and the source code has been modified...
Hi, all
I run a offline clm5.0, the MEG_isoprene is a default output, but when I changed to
run the FHIST case with cesm2.1.3, I can not find MEG_xx in clm2.h0 and cam.h0 files,
I would like to ask if the model is coupled, why the MEG_isoprene is disappeared from clm2.h0 files...
or I need to...
Hi,
I am currently trying to remove the radiative effects of dust_a1 in CESM2.1.5 but am running into issues and do not know the rrtmg code so well. I have seen other similar issues on the forum such as here and here but they were either not answered or I could not apply the proposed...
Hi all,
Has anyone succesfully run MUSICA (i.e. CAM-Chem on a variable-resolution SE grid) with future (SSP) emissions? I've run into numerous problems attempting to do this following the approved procedure of using NCAR-provided tools to regrid and then rename raw CMIP6 emissions, and I'm...

Hello, recently I've been simulating SOA formation using the CAM-Chem module, and I have some questions regarding the mo_prod_loss.F90 file. Specifically, I'd like to ask about the origin of the coefficients used in the production code for species 165–169 (SOAG0–SOAG5). For example...
I have the following questions:
I found the list of atmospheric variables in the case I ran in the atm_in file, but I don't know where to look up the specific meaning of these variables, such as: bc_a1, bc_a4.
This is the original atm_in file: aer_drydep_list = 'bc_a1', 'bc_a4', 'dst_a1'...
