About fsurdat in SSP compset

Hi, I have a question about my compset ISSP126Clm50BgcCrop when running the future scenario with CLM5(CESM2.1.3).

After submitting the case, I noticed that the default surface dataset (fsurdat) is surfdata_1.9x2.5_hist_78pfts_CMIP6_simyr1850_c190304.nc. Does this mean that the model is using 1850 surface conditions as the initial land surface state for the future (starting in 2015) simulation?

This confused me, so I would like to confirm whether the future simulation really starts from 1850 conditions, or whether this fsurdat is not actually used in the same way when running SSP scenarios.

Thanks!

In ISSP compsets, your lnd_in file typically also points to a
- flanduse_timeseries that contains land cover for the years of your simulation AND
- finidat that includes the initial conditions for the simulation

The fsurdat is still used, but only for the fields not included in the flanduse_timeseries.
