Adjusting SEA ICE for changes in SST

Hi there,I am running F compset using sst_HadOIBl_bc_1x1_clim_c101029.nc dataset. I wish to study the atmospheric response to global warming. So, I need to add a "warming effect" to the prescribed SST keeping the ICE_COV consistent. I have gone through the paper by Hurrell et al.(2008) which provides an empirical relation between SST and Ice Fraction. The problem I am facing is that the minimum SST is -1.8 degrees which when added to a 2 degree warming will melt all the ice on earth which would not be the case in actual scenario.Wondering if anyone has come across such scenario ? Any leads would be helpful. Thanks in advance, Prashant.
