Are FSDSNI/FSDSVI and SOLLD/SOLSD the same variables?

Hello,

I'm working with CESM 1.0.4 with CAM5 and CLM2, and I have to know for a project: is there a difference between FSDSNI/FSDSVI from CAM and SOLLD/SOLSD from CLM? Their long names are very similar and describe the diffuse nir and visible radiation on the ground, respectively (checked with "ncdump -h ..."). I have not found anything about this in the documentation and have to admit that I could find my way through the source code on Github, although I did try.

I am a new PhD student and would appreciate any help on how to find extensive information on CESM variables in general.

Thank you very much!

@Prouenhoff you are asking about a very old version of the model, so my response is only a gut feeling:
The CAM and CLM fields that you listed seem the same.
If you have .nc output from the same model time-period, you could compare the fields to see if they are exactly the same or not.

Thank you very much for your response! I was afraid that our model version is quite old. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a simulation with both sets of variables, but yes, once we do, we will compare them over the same time-period. Thank you!
