Artefacts in gs output

Hi, in daily and monthly GSSUN and GSSHA output I see rather strong artefacts in spatial patterns (e.g. Africa in figure below). I can't think of why this physically should be occurring. I don't see it in the local noon equivalents of these variables. Any insight would be appreciated. I'm using CESM2.1.3 code out-of-the-box.

Not sure, that striping pattern in some output fields can happen sometimes when there is a mismatch between solar zenith angle and incoming solar radiation. I won't be able to look at our own simulations until next week since our supercomputer are down for the week.
In the meantime, I'd suggest outputting some diurnal cycle data at the model time step to see what values are going into the daily/monthly averages.
If you are running a coupled case, maybe try running a land-only case and see if you get the same thing. It might be easier/cheaper to investigate a land-only run.
