Dear all,
I would like to know how to read the file name b40.1850.track1.2deg.wcm.007 . My guess is:

*1850*wcm* --> compset: B_1850_WACCM
*2deg* --> resolution: f19_g16 (even though g16 means 1° ocean resolution)
b40* --> CAM4

I do not know whether the above is right and I have no idea what *track1* or *007 stands for.

Can anyone confirm or clarify any of these statements? Thank you very much.

That is all basically correct. b40 means a B-compset (full ocean) in CCSM4.0. Track 1 is the historical name for what is now called CAM4. (Track 5 became CAM5; Tracks 2-4 were intermediary model development tracks that were not released).

007 just means it was our 7th attempt at this run. In this case, 007 was the final product, which we have released as scientifically validated.

The compset was B_1850_WACCM_CN. Yes, the resolution was 1.9x2.5_gx1v6 (f19_g16). This run started at date 0096-01-01, branching from a CAM run with the same resolution (b40.1850.track1.2deg).

This information is not all entirely clear from the run name, but is in our run database.
