BRCP85C5CN initial restart files

Dear cesm experts:      I want to run a  BRCP85C5CN experiment and its initial RUN_REFCASE is 'b.e10.B20TRC5CN.f09_g16.001' , RUN_REFDATE is '2006-01-01', however, the official (https://svn-ccsm-inputdata.cgd.ucar.edu/trunk/inputdata/) doesn't provide these restart files, So I wonder somewone could help me get these restart files? Thanks a lot!     My email address: liufukaiouc@gmial.com

The case you reference was run at ORNL and the restart set for 2006-01-01-00000 is located on the OLCF HPSS. I can attempt to retreive this for you or you could use a slightly different reference case: b.e11.B20TRC5CNBDRD.f09_g16.001. The restart sets for this case are readily available here at NCAR. Please let me know which option you prefer.

I have placed the restart set that you requested in a public FTP site. You may retreive it by doing something like the following (actual responses vary slightly, depending on your version of the FTP software):% ftp ftp.cgd.ucar.edu 1026 dtn03:/tmp/work/amai/rest > ftp ftp.cgd.ucar.edu
Connected to ftp.cgd.ucar.edu (128.117.23.220).

Name (ftp.cgd.ucar.edu:amai): anonymous

ftp> cd pub/mai/rest

ftp> mget *ftp> quit%

Thanks a lot!!! I am downloding b.e10.B20TRC5CN.f09_g16.001 restart files from the FTP site, and I noticed the ohter case you mentioned is a cesm1.1 case, it may  get better results because I'm using cesm1.2 to run cases. Could you do me another favour to find this restart files? Thanks again!

These are in the pub/mai/rest_1.1 directory. I do not think that you need all of these to do a hybrid or initial start. Certainly the h1 and h2 files are not needed.

We do not have any restart sets that would work with CESM1.2 at T31_g37. We do have a restart set that would work for f09_g16. The case is bg40.1850.track1.1deg.006b which is what is pointed to for this compset out-of-the-box.

To add to what Andy just said: For B_1850_CN_GLC_CISM1, you should really run at f09_g16 rather than T31_g37. In addition to the fact that we have out-of-the-box restart files at f09_g16, it is also preferable to run at that resolution because it has undergone some level of scientific validation. Coarser resolutions (T31 and even f19) have been determined to be insufficient to properly simulate ice sheet evolution in this compset.

Thanks! I don't really need to do a  B_1850_CN_GLC_CISM1 case, and  a f09_g16 cost too much  computing resources, I won't consider this case in the short term. You've helped me a lot!  Thank you very much!!!

Hi, mai. Sorry to bother you again.I get all forcing & initial files needed to start  a 'BRCP85C5CN' case. However, the caculating jobs has always failed after submitted, it seems the problem lies in the initialization step of clm4.0 when reading in ldomain file.
I checked the domain files and there should be no problem with these files. What's worse, cesm1.1 cesm1.20 and cesm1.21 report the same error, it really drive me crazy.I have attached the cesm/lnd logfiles. Could you help me to solve this problem? Thanks!

Hi, mai. Thanks for your help last time and  I ecountered a new problem.I'm running a B_2000_C5 simulation, and I was wondering if you've run similar experiments before and have some restart files?

This is not a standard compset. We haven't done experiments for this compset and we don't have restarts files for that compset. Hoewever, you can try to use restart files from a 20th run around teh year 2000.
