build is running indefinitely

Hi, i am running CESM 1.2.2 and for some reason the build runs indefinitely. yes,it works fine. This problem has been persistent since trying to compile the program with gmake_j with value 16.later i downloaded the code afresh but still the problem persists. my friend uses a the cluster. However he faces no such errors. It seems to have started with once i tried gmake_j with 16 option.
