CAM-CHEM simulation with 0.5deg resolution

Dear all, Is anyone able to run the CAM-CHEM with 0.5deg resolution? I choose the grids type "0.47x0.63_gx1v6" and it compiles successfully. But it fails to generate output file and the log file indicates erros like "Overflow: Ross Sea", "Overflow: Faroe Bank Channel", "Overflow: Denmark Strait" and "init_overflows_kmt". Do I make anything wrong or the CESM1.2.2 doesn't support the CAM-CHEM simulation at the 0.5deg resolution? Thank you. Jian

Hi Jian, you can run CAM-chem in have degree resolution, but we have not tested it in the free-running version. It you want to test this, you will have to very likely retune some variables, like dust, lightning NOx, and maybe others, depending on from what compset you start off. You also would need a reasonable IC file or spin up your model.  It seems like you have problems running the ocean or something, so something seems to go wrong. I am not sure what those error messages mean. Someone else may know? Simone

Dear Simon,Thanks for your reply. I do search online and someone say the user needs to tune some parameters to run the fine resolution. I just saw the 0.5 deg is supported in the releasd version and thought it should be able for testing. Actually I tried the BCN compset which just used CAM4 without online chemistry but it still returned similar errors. Hope someone can help resolve this issue. Thank you. Jian
