CAM3.1 and NetCDF

Which version of NetCDF do you use with CAM3.1? The default settings aren't working so I am setting the -nc_lib option but I am not sure if I should be using the 32 or 64 bit version.

You just need to be consistent. For example, if CAM is compiled with 64-bit addressing then you need to link with a 64-bit netCDF lib.
