Can not get executable mksurfdata_map

Dear all,
I encountered a gmake error while following the CLM5.0 guide to create surface datasets (1.3.5. Creating Surface Datasets — ctsm release-clm5.0 documentation). I was trying to obtain the executable mksurfdata_map by running the commands:
cd mksurfdata_map/src
gmake

I received the following error, which I suspect is due to missing environmental variables:
/tmp/ifortVtfYWS.i90(11668): catastrophic error: Too many errors,
exitingcompilation aborted for mkdomainMod.F90 (code 1)
gmake: *** [mkdomainMod.o] Error 1

The detailed error log is attached.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Lee
