Hi anyone who's interested!
I got CESM Postprocessing working on Macs outside of the UCAR system. It takes quite a while to work, but I had some old simulations sitting on lab hard drive storage. Also, right now I only have the timeseries and atm_averages scripts working (for old CESM1 - formatted files, ran out of time to fix up the ocean_averages and the diagnostics scripts again which create little local html sites). But if you're looking to do something similar, this is a start. I'd be happy also to let you collaborate on the github if you fix another script.
